Bright Brewery Bush Dance

Round up your gang, grab your partner and swing on into Bright Brewery for a colourful night of bush dancing. To be held on Thursday 4th May from 6pm, this special event is a community fundraiser that will help showcase the spectacular Autumn season in beautiful Bright. All ages are welcome! Spring Festival


The Spring Festival Committee held its AGM last night at the Punkah Pub. It was great to see some new faces. We welcomed Jean-Pierre Ronco, Tom Buckley, Amanda Hore and Adam Booth to the Committee, along with Tom Smith, Jenny McNaught, Lisa Grossman, Michelle Sharp, Ros Holland and Angela Bradbury who once again put their hands up to be part of this great committee. Spring Calendar of Events


It is time to compile the 2017 Spring Calendar of Events. The program will outline large scale community and tourism events within Alpine and Indigo Shires.
Could you please forward the details of your Spring events (taking place for the months of September October and November within the Alpine Shire) via email by 16 June 2017 for inclusion in the Spring program guide.
Please do not miss out on this opportunity to promote your event as we receive many enquiries (including from the media) and would like to have information relating to your event at hand. As the programs are also distributed to targeted Visitor Information Centres across the state (including Melbourne), it is an important tool to let as many people as possible know about your event. And it's free! 
If you have a WOW pictures relating to your event please send them through as this will help with promoting your event - please send through any good quality, high resolution photos of your event (.jpg format is preferred).

Upcoming Mingles


Along with holding our meetings bi monthly we are now also scheduling the meetings on different evenings of the week so hopefully more members can attend. A full schedule of dates for 2017 is listed below. Come for the meeting and then feel free to stay and mingle with other members and business owners whilst enjoying a wine and some nibbles.

We are looking for members to host our upcoming Members Mingles. We just need you to be able to seat 20-30 people and provide some light snacks and drinks. The chamber will help with the cost by contributing $150 (we can even bring our own glasses and wine if need be).  We need a host for April, June, August (AGM) and October. Draft Council Plan 2017-21


Alpine Shire Council has released its draft Council Plan for 2017-21. The plan outlines Council's strategic direction over the next four years to work towards a healthier community. This year, the plan also incorporates the draft Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan to prioritise health and wellbeing in our planning framework, optimise resourcing and contribute to an active, healthy and connected community. You can now view the plan on their website and, if you're interested, have your say on the strategic direction by making a formal submission.

Bright Brewery

We’re starting the final month of Autumn with a big week of seasonal festivities.
Join us on Thursday evening for the Autumn Festival Bush Dance, a community fundraiser for the Bright Autumn Festival. Please book your tickets today!  Then on Friday night is the exclusive High Country Harvest 100 Step Feast – an indulgent progressive dinner through the streets of Bright, which begins with a seasonal beer tasting at Bright Brewery and will include the first ever tasting of our new Pumpkin Harvest Ale, which we brewed in collaboration with Pepo Farms. You will also be tasting our English Nut Brown Ale, and Hop Harvest Ale, before moving onto one of the final ever dining experiences at Tani Eat & Drink before they close their doors to focus on gin distilling.  On Saturday evening we are hosting the first Bright Village Campfire at Bright Brewery. This is a free and open event to all, with everyone welcome to join us in warming themselves by the fires and sharing in fantastic local produce.

100 Step Feast – Fri 5th May from 5pm (High Country Harvest)
Walk, skip, dance, a progressive feast through the streets of Bright. Indulge in a 4 course dinner experience, all within 100 steps! Bright Brewery Village Campfire – Sat 6th May from 4pm (High Country Harvest)
As part of the High Country Harvest Festival, Bright Brewery is hosting a community campfire event on Saturday 6th May from 4pm – 10pm. Bright Brewery’s Village Campfire will bring together the local community and visitors alike in celebration of togetherness, cooler weather, the end of harvest, people and places. This is a free and open event. All are welcome to mingle, try some deliciously warming treats from local producers and enjoy the glow of the campfires.  Come along and enjoy the likes of marshmallow malt pops by Bright Pops, roasted chestnuts from Chestnut Australia, Whipps Design fire-pits, Sixpence Coffee, live blacksmith demonstrations by High Country Forge, along with wandering musicians, damper making, harvest beers, a CFA fire truck and more.

Mt Buffalo Olives

Pick, Pickle, Wine and Dine

Love your olives? – Then this hands-on tour of a working olive grove, olive picking and pickling experience and post-harvest feast is for you!

Impress your friends and become a master at picking and processing your own table olives with Colin and Elisa Bertuch at Mt Buffalo Olives! Our local grove at the foothills of Mount Buffalo produces award winning Olives and Extra Virgin Olive Oil and boasts a stunning, terraced olive grove that overlooks the Alpine Valley and has magnificent views of the surrounding, majestic mountain peaks.

The day starts here at Mt Buffalo Olives with a cup of freshly brewed tea or espresso coffee and homemade goodies.  After morning tea take a tour of the grove, harvest your olives and then learn the tips of the trade to successfully pickle them.

Following the morning’s activity, take a short drive across the valley to Boyntons Feathertop Winery to enjoy a wine tasting experience with accompanying canapés.  This is followed by a delicious, two course lunch matched with Feathertop Wines on the Tuscan style terrace.

Your day starts at 9:30 am and finishes at 4:00 pm and includes olives, olive picking kit, pickling notes, morning tea, tour of grove, wine tasting experience, food and wine with lunch.

This all inclusive package will see you heading home with a swag of riches from our Alpine Valley and knowledge to draw on when harvesting your own olives! What more could a D.I.Y foodie ask for?

Punkah Pantry    

Porepunkah is starting to shape up with road works continuing.  Next week will see the road being sealed, it is unknown how this will affect business however we do expect to trade through with Pizzas Wednesday to Saturday and Parma’s Wednesday only so please drop by.  Remember to book for a Parma to ensure we don’t disappoint.  We now have our own label Saperavi Rose in store, ask in store for a taste, we are sure you won’t be disappointed.  It is selling very well indeed.
