Events include the Wandi Nut Festival, Bright Brewery Bush Dance, Autumn Instameet, Wandi Hall Markets, Bright Art Gallery Autumn Exhibition, Flea Market, open gardens, autumn feasts, and, the highlight of the festival, Gala Day. Gala Day (5 May) will feature a huge open-air Rotary Market, live music in the streets and a grand parade through Bright’s CBD.

The experience starts with an evening snowshoe walk through the mystic snow gums, to encapsulate a sense of remoteness and immerse oneself in the Australian alpine environment. Leaving at sunset from the Wire Plain shelter, the walk will weave its way to a hidden eco-village, where you’ll enjoy a delicious heart warming glass of Glühwein outside by the fire. You will then be invited into the Central tipi with a fireplace, where you will learn the secrets to making a traditional and mouth-watering French fondue, with cheese imported for the occasion from French Alpine farms. Snowshoe hire is included in the experience. In addition, Alpine Nature Experience has partnered with Hoys Ski Hire to provide special deals on snowshoes and equipment hire. The fondue is part of a three course dinner supplied by Zirky’s.

Walk / Hike / Run - free
Tronoh Dredge, Harrietville - 1.4km - Begin your walk from Tronoh Dredge Hole car park off Feathertop Track and head either way around this man-made lake.
Historic Town, Wandiligong - 3km - Start at Wandi Pub on Morses Creek Road. Walk north on Morses Creek Road and turn left onto Royal Bridge Track. Cross the bridge and continue back onto Morses Creek Road as far as the Manchester Unity Public Hall, passing the original Post Office, General Store, the former Public Library and number of historic Churches.
Canyon Walk, Bright - 4.9km - start from Howitt Park (near playground) head towards the Star Road bridge. The track on the northern bank of the Ovens River has steep steps and may be difficult for people with limited mobility.
Cherry Walk, Bright - 5km - Start from Howitt Park (near playground) head east towards Rotary Waterslide in Centenary Park then follow the southern bank of the Ovens River to the suspension bridge at Hawthorn Lane, crossing the bridge to the northern bank. Continue to the second suspension bridge, cross and return on the south side.

Although the snow is a bit late arriving at Mount Buffalo this season there are still amazing waterfalls, walks, views and scenery to see and explore. The snow will no doubt start falling soon and our winter wonderland will be in full swing with Tobogganing, Cross Country Skiing and Snow show hikes plus acres of snow play area. We will be delving into pranayama (breath work), asana (poses), and bandhas (body locks) to stoke the fire in our bellies. The Outdoor Inn

The Outdoor Inn (Camp Creusty) has 40+ cabins capable of accommodating over 100 people and they are available for short/medium term (weekly or monthly) rates for workers. Although the snow was late coming, this season, it has now arrived and Mount Buffalo is busy with families and visitors enjoying the snowplay, tobogganing and cross country skiing. We have a fair to good cover of snow and more forecast from this Friday.

As well as the warm and friendly Cafe and ski school at Dingo Dell there is also the Cresta Cross Country ski and snow play hub where the horn road has a good snow cover for skiing or a snow shoe hike (No walkers please as it destroys the snow for the skiers and a frozen footprint can break a skiers leg). There are two portable toilets at Cresta Carpark, a small shelter (not heated) so rug up. Great tobogganing and snowplay here though.

Tronoh Dredge, Harrietville - 1.4km - Begin your walk from Tronoh Dredge Hole car park off Feathertop Track and head either way around this man-made lake.
Historic Town, Wandiligong - 3km - Start at Wandi Pub on Morses Creek Road. Walk north on Morses Creek Road and turn left onto Royal Bridge Track. Cross the bridge and continue back onto Morses Creek Road as far as the Manchester Unity Public Hall, passing the original Post Office, General Store, the former Public Library and number of historic Churches.
Canyon Walk, Bright - 4.9km - start from Howitt Park (near playground) head towards the Star Road bridge. The track on the northern bank of the Ovens River has steep steps and may be difficult for people with limited mobility.
Cherry Walk, Bright - 5km - Start from Howitt Park (near playground) head east towards Rotary Waterslide in Centenary Park then follow the southern bank of the Ovens River to the suspension bridge at Hawthorn Lane, crossing the bridge to the northern bank. Continue to the second suspension bridge, cross and return on the south side.

Winter at Dinner Plain is not to be missed. From downhill and cross country skiing, snowboarding, tubing, onsen and spa, tobogganing, snowshoe shuffles plus some fair dinkum snow play. We even have sled dog tours! Warm fire places, loads of places to have lunch and accommodation.

For beginners, the Snow Park with its gentle downhill slope complete with Magic Carpet and Poma lift sits at the edge of the village, creating the perfect place to learn to ski or snowboard.
It’s on every day of the school holidays at the Dinner Plain Snow Park from 2-5pm.

The experience starts with an evening snowshoe walk through the mystic snow gums, to encapsulate a sense of remoteness and immerse oneself in the Australian alpine environment. Leaving at sunset from the Wire Plain shelter, the walk will weave its way to a hidden eco-village, where you’ll enjoy a delicious heart warming glass of Glühwein outside by the fire. You will then be invited into the Central tipi with a fireplace, where you will learn the secrets to making a traditional and mouth-watering French fondue, with cheese imported for the occasion from French Alpine farms. Snowshoe hire is included in the experience. In addition, Alpine Nature Experience has partnered with Hoys Ski Hire to provide special deals on snowshoes and equipment hire. The fondue is part of a three course dinner supplied by Zirky’s.
